Flow Cytometry
Westmead Cytometry provides advanced technologies for single cell analysis and sorting. Cytometers have the capability to acquire and record numerous parameters of information on millions of cells, at extremely rapid rates of over 40000 cells/second, making the technology ideally suited for the sensitive and accurate quantitative analysis of single cells.
The advanced cell sorters at the Westmead Research Hub allow the acquisition of information but combine the ability to electrostatically deflect single cells which have pre-set, defined properties into separate collection tubes. For cell purification, flow cytometry is especially well suited for applications requiring high purity (>99%) cell sorting and/or applications requiring single cell isolations. Cell sorting via FACS can separate complex mixtures of cells on the basis of multiple marker expression and additionally sort multiple cell populations (up to 6 populations) simultaneously.
