Equipment Roadmap
The recent inception of Core Facility Scientific Advisory Committees (SAC), comprised of members from all partner institutions across Westmead Research Hub, provides the perfect opportunity to facilitate discussions and to develop a “technology plan” that details desirable technologies for acquisition.
It is expected that there will be a review of this document every year at the level of individual SACs. Researchers with input may either approach their relevant SAC member or submit an expression of interest through the Westmead Research Hub website. In addition to developing the technology plan, the relevant SACs will also be responsible for identifying and applying for relevant grant funding schemes.
The WRH Major Equipment Committee will then review all of the technology plans and establish the equipment priorities or a master document known as an “equipment roadmap”, in line with the strategic vision of the wider Westmead Precinct. Once identified, active consultation with the WRH Operations Committee will allow for discussions of operational matters and the establishment of a business case, if applicable.
The WRH Executive Committee will have the equipment priorities presented to them as well as provide approval and the leadership mandate required to actively pursue equipment acquisition. Westmead Research Hub staff have representation at all relevant committees and are available to facilitate strategic execution e.g. grant writing for equipment acquisition.
